The county’s seat is Rockwall, and was formerly part of another county, Kaufman County, until 1873 due to access issues with the county seat.
The county of Rockwall is named from a subterranean rock wall that is found running from one side of the county to the other, also giving name to the county’s seat.
There are a few major highways which link into Rockwall County, including Interstate 30, State Highway 205, and State Highway 276. Adjacent counties which feed into the greatness of the county include Hunt County, Dallas County, Collin County, and Kaufman County. Between 2000 and 2005, the county was named the third fastest growing within the entire nation with an addition of 19,870 residents, which represents a 46.1% increase.
Students within Rockwall County attend Rockwall ISD schools as well as Royse City ISD schools, which each offer great education and wonderful scores within the United States.
