Named for Christian Evers, this historic school dates back from 1894 and was the first school in the Leon Valley. A combined effort brought the school to fruition, and it was first built on two acres at the location of Huebner and Evers Roads. Originally constructed with rough wood, it was a schoolhouse attended by children who walked, road in wagons or used their donkey as transportation. The current school was built in 1992. With an emphasis on high test scores in reading, math and science, the present day Evers Elementary has received a GreatSchools rating of 8 out of 10. As a member school of the Northside ISD, Evers features Pre-K and Kindergarten with dedicated teachers who will help children to grow. Spelling Bees make learning fun for the higher grades. Special Education is part of the curriculum as well. The school maintains a very thorough website for the benefit of parents who wish to be informed; exciting and fun learning games for students can also be accessed through the school website.
