The Keller Independent School District
One of the reasons that Keller was recently named as the 7th best place to,live by Money magazine is the quality of its school district. The Keller ISD is a TEA Recognized District. Further evidence of the quality of education is the fact that both Keller and Central High Schools were ranked among the country's top high schools in Newsweek's 2010 rankings. Homes for sale in the district are often modestly priced considering this level of recognition.
Basswood Elementary School
Basswood Elementary, at 3100 Clay Mountain Trail in Fort Worth, is a K-4 grade school in the Keller Independent School District. Enrollment is about 360 students. In the past few years, enrollment has been steadily rising, from less than three hundred to the current levels. Student-teacher ratios are excellent, at about 15 to 1.
School facilities are relatively new. They were constructed in 2008. Comments about Basswood Elementary often focus on how involved the teachers and administrators are in student life. The excellence of the faculty is often highlighted.
In the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) testing, the number of students that met performance standards is trending upward. Of those tested in math proficiency, 93% met the state standards, compared to 87% statewide. In English, 97% of Basswood Elementary School students tested met the standards, compared to 92% statewide. Consistent with this level of performance is an excellent attendance record. Students maintain about a 97% percent attendance level, which exceeds the state average.
