Southlake is a city with scenic landscape and beautiful houses, located in the northwest part of Tarrant and southeast part of Denton counties, Texas, Unites States. The settlement in the area started in 1840, but not as a city until 1956. In 1956, the chief police officer of the area died in the Battle of Yates Corner. The city was named after him, as recognition of his sacrifice. Today, the area, which is known as Southlake, was composed of White chapel, Union Church, Dove and Jellico of that time. Southlake was a rural area until the DFW International Airport was established. After the airport started functioning, the city grew very fast in all possible aspects like, economy, infrastructure, administration etc and turned into an urban area within only few years.

The master plan of Southlake, according to which the neighborhoods was being developed from the year 1980, facilitated the city to have plot of minimum 1 acre each. Though, gradually the minimum plot size was decreased to ½ acre and then 1/3 acre. However, the city already had a lot of large plots and those areas were developed as upscale neighborhoods with mansion like houses. Mainly, the western part of Southlake Boulevard were developed in such manner which includes Myers meadow, Timber lake, Stoneridge lakes, Stone lakes and Timarron Country Club. Recently developed, luxurious and mentionable neighborhoods are Estes Park, Stratford Park, Shady Oaks, The Enclave, Clariden Ranch, Palomar Estates, Cambridge Place, the Reserve of Southlake, Westwyck Hills, Versailles, and Laurelwood Park etc.

The schools of Southlake city are managed mostly by Carroll independent school district. Apart from that, some schools of the extreme parts of the city are also under Northeast independent school district, Keller independent school district and Grapewine-Colleyville independent school district.
