Five of CISD's schools have been named National Blue Ribbon Schools by the U.S. Department of Education. The Blue Ribbon Schools include Rockenbaugh Elementary, Johnson Elementary, Carroll Elementary, Carroll Middle School and Carroll Senior High School.
All of its schools share the same colors (green, white, and black) and the same mascot (the Dragon). The Carroll Dragon logo (a dragon, in the school colors, emitting lightning from its mouth) is among the most recognized logos in the DFW area.
The Carroll High school football team recently won the 5A division 1 national championship, their 4th state title in 5 years. They were ranked #1 in the nation for the third straight year in 2006.
