Settled during 1847, DeSoto is currently one of the oldest of all communities within the Northern section of the state, with the first post office of the area built during 1881. DeSoto is the namesake of Thomas Hernando DeSoto Stewart who was a community doctor from the 1800’s that was most known for his dedication to the community.
Today’s DeSoto homes are a mix of older and newer developments, with styles that range just as diversely as the ages of the homes. The children attend DeSoto ISD schools, which includes 12 separate schools.
