Wylie, Texas is considered to be a Collin County city; however, it resides also in both Dallas County and Rockwall County. The city is a suburb in the Dallas metro area, with a population around 33,000 that continues to grow. The city once only stood within Collin County, but began to extend into the neighboring counties. There are many great amenities really close by, with Lake Lavon as well as Lake Ray Hubbard close for residents to reach.
The population began to rise, with 238 in 1890 and 773 by 1900. During the 40’s, the dairy farming industry brought in a greater population, with continuous development and construction until the city began to reach a broader population.
The 90’s brought forth 2 major disasters for Wylie, which began with a tornado in ’93 and ended with two fires in ’98. The 21st century brought a vast wave of growth and economy as well. The area now is continuing to shape, with a much lower cost of living than surrounding areas in Collin County.
