Von Ormy is a district that resonates with history. It dates back from the 1880’s and played a prominent part in both the Mexican War for Independence and War for Texas Independence, and it is only a few miles away from The Alamo. It is located just southwest of downtown San Antonio, in Bexar County. The population of Von Ormy is approximately 1,300, a decent sized town with a low population density. Conveniences: Camping is a popular activity for the outdoorsy types in Von Ormy. Two of the closest attractions are the Hidden Valley RV Park and the Alamo River RV Ranch Resort. Both provide numerous amenities for the do-it-yourselver. The Hidden Valley RV Park is opportunistically placed right near Medio Creek, and offers plenty of shade and hiking trails.
Two public schools are located in Von Ormy—S/Sgt Michael P Berrera Veterans Elementary, and Savannah Heights Intermediate. The closest high school is Southwest High School, in San Antonio. It also shares a school district with Somerset.
