Live Oak, Texas is in Bexar County and is part of the metropolitan Statistical Area of San Antonio. It is located exactly at 29º 33’ 2” N and 98º 20’ 18’ and has a 4.7 sq mi total area, .64% of which is water. The city is elevated 912 ft above sea level and follows the Central Standard Time Zone. The census of 2000 showed a population of 9,156 people, 2,592 families and 3,429 households. The population density of the city was 1,957 people per sq mi.

The area currently has two main attractions (as of September 2010), the Forum Shopping Center and the Live Oak Crossing. The city also has a fire department, a police department, a municipal hall and a number of parks and recreational centers.
