Fair Oaks Ranch is in Bexar, Kendall and Comal counties and is part of the Metropolitan Area of San Antonio. It is located at 29 degrees 44.19 N and 98 degrees 38.33 W on the map. The city’s total land area is 7.2 sq mi without any bodies of water. It is elevated 1,270 ft above sea level and follows the Central Time Zone. As of the 2006, the city had 5739 people. In the 2000 census however, the city had 1531 families and 1683 households, with a population density is at 656.4 people per sq mi.

The city is served by the “Boerne Independent School District” although Fair Oaks Ranch Elementary is the only actual school within the city’s limits. Fair Oaks Ranch’s city council is headed by Mayor Cheryl Landman supported by 5 Aldermen. The city also has a police department, a fire department and an ambulance service.
