The second of the Park Cities of Dallas County, University Park is a city in the county that is also an inner suburban residential community of Dallas. The area holds Southern Methodist University, surrounded mostly by the Dallas municipality. University Park made its start as a mere cluster of Texas homes, which were surrounding the University founded in 1915. The school even provided utilities to the homes, all until 1924 when University Park’s population began to rise too high.
The growth in population could be attributed to the growth in development and improvements that were made to the area after the 20’s. The population, however, has made a standstill around 22,000 since its 40’s growth, with 2,350 acres making up its area.
The low tax rate within University Park is a definite plus, with the higher property values allowing for optimal investment, as well as home life that is well worth the cost. The character of the city is quite unique, offering a wonderful embrace for all residents that enter, settle, and have remained in the area for quite some time.
