The city of Plano is primarily located in Collin County, Texas with a small part extending into neighboring Denton County. Plano has always been a popular suburb of Dallas, located roughly 20 miles to the southwest. The city has a total geographic area of slightly over 71 square miles and has a population estimated at 275,000 people.

Plano’s growth during the 1990s has been well documented. By the year 2000, Plano had become one of the largest suburbs of Dallas.

Plano Texas real estate for sale also includes a good supply of condos and town homes, in addition to a wide range of single-family residences.

Let’s take a slightly closer look at the typical prices of homes for sale in Plano Texas.

As of 2010, Plano has been listed as the safest American city to live – which is a big star for those that are seeking a place to raise a family.

Prices

A typical existing 3-bedroom Plano home consists of between 1,650 and 2,250 square feet and will likely be listed for sale somewhere between $225,000 and $295,000 and up. A quick search of Plano Texas real estate also shows a number of 3-bedroom homes for sale in the $200,000 range as well, with a few listed less than $200,000.

A typical existing 4-bedroom home would have between 2,500 and 3,250 square and you might expect these homes to be listed for sale between $325,000 and $425,000 and up. Naturally, depending on the neighborhood, you can also find a number of 4-bedroom homes priced less than $325,000 and considerably higher than $425,000.

In a typical existing 5-bedroom home, you might expect to find between 3,500 and 4,250 square feet of living space and will most likely be listed for sale in the $475,000 to $575,000 range or higher.

As you would expect, among the homes for sale in Plano Texas, there are quite a number of executive homes with 7,500 to 10,000 square feet of space that range in price from $750,000 to $3 million. There are even several such homes on the market that are in excess of $4.2 million.

Plano gets its name from the Spanish word for “flat,” a reference to the general local terrain. However, there’s nothing flat about the Plano Texas real estate market. When it comes to home values, Plano has enjoyed higher home appreciation rates than many other parts of the country. While there are no guarantees – in life, just like real estate – real estate tracking firms predict home values in Plano will continue to see better than average increases compared to similar homes in other markets throughout the United States.
