Unemployment continues to drop in Denton County

 Unemployment continued to drop in March across Denton County, according to numbers from the Texas Workforce Commission. The 3.8 percent unemployment rate is a tenth of a percentage point below February's 3.9 percent rate and four-tenths of a percentage point below the 4.2 percent recorded in January. In March 2007, the county's unemployment rate was 3.7 percent, down from the 4.4 percent recorded for March 2006. For the city, unemployment remained at 3.6 percent for the second consecutive month, down two-tenths of a percentage point from the 3.8 percent unemployment rate in January. In March 2007, the city's unemployment rate was also 3.7 percent, down from the 4.1 percent recorded for March 2006. Statewide, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose slightly in March to 4.3 percent, down from 4.4 percent a year ago. In February, the Texas unemployment rate was 4.1 percent.
